Debtors could save £204 a year

Article Category: Debt Management Help and Advice

The average debt-laden borrower could potentially save themselves an average of £204 a year just by switching to the best deals, according to a price comparison website.

MoneExpert.com says that this is not the only area where consumers can save money as research undertaken by them shows more than four out of five adults are overpaying for financial products.

It estimates that the average household could save up to £547 every year just by switching financial basics, such as mortgages, personal loans and credit cards, to the best deal on the market.

Sean Gardner, from MoneyExpert.com, said: "Not everyone will save that much but four out of five of us are overpaying for at least one of the financial basics.

"Typically, UK consumers are paying out £150 per year more than they need to… I’d urge people to spend just a few minutes online to review their finances."

With gas and electicity bills set to rise further and sky-high petrol prices, this would appear to be very timely advice.
