Knock finances into shape

Article Category: Debt Management Help and Advice

If the credit card blues have descended following the festive splurge then borrowers should try and lift the gloom by spending a little time knocking their finances into shape.

In a statement, personal finance website moneyfacts.co.uk says that the last couple of weeks has probably seen thousands of people taking "a sharp intake of breath" when they realised the extent of their spending.

Monefacts goes on to say that while it was easy to "get carried away" in the run up to the festive period, the amount of credit card interest being charged should act as a wake up call to switch to a cheaper provider.

It goes on to say: "Whilst you’re sitting in front of your PC saving money by switching your credit card, invest a bit more time and see where else you can save.

"So rather than just being a rate tart on your plastic, why not be an energy and insurance tart as well?"

The statement concludes by saying that institutions relied on customer laziness to boost their profits and recommended they be more proactive in reducing costs by shopping around for the best deals.
